Prof. Dr. Sermin Kesebir graduated from the Dokuz Eylül University School of Medicine in 1995 and completed his residency in psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry, Ege University School of Medicine. He completed his mandatory service at Kırıkkale Specialized Training and Research Hospital and was promoted to associate professor at Adnan Menderes University in 2008.

Between 2009 and 2014, he served as an instructor at the Erenköy Mental and Nervous Diseases Training and Research Hospital, where he managed the acute psychosis ward. Since 2014, he has continued his academic work as a professor at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at Üsküdar University, and since 2018, as a professor at the Faculty of Medicine at Üsküdar University; he also serves as a consultant physician in the outpatient department at NPİSTANBUL Hospital.

Prof. Dr. Kesebir holds active memberships in numerous national and international scientific organizations, most notably the Scientific Working Group on Mood Disorders of the Turkish Psychiatric Association. Among the major institutions of which he is a member are the Abdülkadir Özbek Psychodrama Institute, the Halime Odağ Foundation (Psychoanalytically Oriented Psychotherapies), the Bipolar Life Association, the Bipolar Disorders Association, the American Psychiatric Association (APA), the International Society for Bipolar Disorders (ISBD), and the International Society for Affective Disorders (ISAD).

His academic work focuses particularly on mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorders), consultation-liaison psychiatry, and psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapies.

Prof. Dr. Kesebir, who has made significant scientific contributions in his field, has authored chapters in various books and guidelines published by the Turkish Psychiatric Association and related scientific working groups. In this context, he has authored important chapters in the areas of depression treatment guidelines, bipolar disorders, psychoanalytic psychotherapies, and women’s mental health. He is the author of a book titled “The Rhythm of Brain Waves, Entropy, and Chaos Through a Psychiatrist’s Eyes: Bipolar Self, Bipolar EEG, Body-Mind.”

Prof. Dr. Kesebir has over 100 scientific articles published in national and international peer-reviewed journals and has presented over 100 papers at scientific conferences. His work includes award-winning research, and he has made significant contributions particularly in the areas of bipolar disorder, genetics and epigenetics, biological and electrophysiological markers, metabolic syndrome, comorbid physical illnesses, and childhood trauma. His prominent international publications have appeared in prestigious journals such as the *Journal of Affective Disorders*, *Comprehensive Psychiatry*, the *Turkish Journal of Psychiatry*, *Heliyon*, *Frontiers in Psychiatry*, the *World Journal of Clinical Cases*, the *Journal of Clinical Medicine Research*, and *Medical Research Archives*.

Prof. Dr. Sermin Kesebir is an experienced academic and clinician who has developed deep expertise in the field of mood disorders at both the clinical and academic levels and has made significant contributions to the literature of psychiatry through his national and international scientific work. He currently continues his academic work as a professor at the Faculty of Medicine at Üsküdar University, while also serving as a consultant physician in the outpatient department at NPİSTANBUL Hospital.
