Prof. Dr. ŞAFAK SAHİR KARAMEHMETOĞLU was born in Rize in 1956. He completed his primary education at Istanbul Beykoz Halide Edip Adıvar Primary School and Paşabahçe Primary School. He completed his secondary and high school education at Galatasaray High School between 1968-1976. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1982. Between 1982-1984, he completed his compulsory service as a General Practitioner at Ağrı Doğu Beyazıt Health Center. Between 1984-1986, he fulfilled his military service in Kırklareli-Lüleburgaz. Karamehmetoğlu completed his specialty training in Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation between 1986-1990, and received the title of Associate Professor in 1996 and Professor in 2002. He has been working as a Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Specialist at NPISTANBUL Hospital since May 2025.
