Born in the Mucur district of Kırşehir, Firdevs Seyfe Şen completed his elementary, middle, and high school education in Kırşehir. He began his medical education at Çukurova University School of Medicine in 1987 and graduated in 1993. Following his graduation, as part of his mandatory service, he began working as a general practitioner at Health Center No. 1 in the Kaman district of Kırşehir province; one year later, he was assigned to the Emergency Department at Kırşehir State Hospital. He subsequently assumed the position of Director of the Mental Health and Psychiatric Services Branch at the Kırşehir Provincial Health Directorate.
In 1996, after passing the Medical Specialization Exam, he began his residency training at the Department of Mental Health and Disorders at the Faculty of Medicine, Celal Bayar University in Manisa. He completed his thesis titled “Attitudes Toward Depression Among People Living in a Rural Region of Turkey” and became a psychiatrist. His first assignment after completing his residency was at the Manisa Turgutlu State Hospital, where he managed the psychiatry clinic for over 10 years. During this time, he also practiced as a private practitioner for a period, in accordance with Ministry of Health regulations.
As part of his professional development, he became a psychodrama therapist at the Abdülkadir Özbek Psychodrama Institute; he received training in individual psychoanalysis from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Eğrilmez, social skills training for schizophrenia from Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yıldız, and motivational interviewing training from Prof. Dr. Kültegin Ögel. In addition, he completed psychoanalytically oriented group psychotherapy and psychoanalysis training programs organized by the Halime Odağ Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy Foundation and participated in Prof. Dr. Vamık Volkan’s training on “The Use of Dreams in Psychoanalysis.” He has completed Level 1 and Level 2 EMDR training offered by the EMDR Association, as well as the CETAD Basic Training; he also received theoretical training in cognitive-behavioral therapy from Prof. Dr. Hakan Türkçapar. In addition, he has completed the Driver Behavior Improvement Training and Substance Abuse Physician Training programs organized by the Ministry of Health, receiving certification for both.
After retiring from the public sector in 2020, he began working as a psychiatrist at the İzmir Nöron Psychiatry Center, of which he is a founding partner. He served there for two years and, after completing his training in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), conducted pioneering work in the application of this treatment method.
His primary areas of interest include psychotic disorders, depression, anxiety disorders, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and test anxiety. Since February 2022, he has been serving as a Psychiatrist at NP Istanbul Hospital.
