Prof. Dr. A. Oğuz TANRIDAĞ was born on October 17, 1951, in Ankara. He began his medical education at Istanbul University’s Istanbul Faculty of Medicine and graduated in 1975. After completing his mandatory service in the Turkish Air Force Flight Units from 1976 to 1979, he continued his residency training in the Department of Neurology at GATA from 1979 to 1982.

After completing his mandatory service at the Etimesgut Air Force Hospital from 1982 to 1984, he worked as a clinical researcher in the Department of Neurology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine from 1984 to 1986 to further his career on the international stage.

In 1986, he was promoted to assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at GATA; he was promoted to associate professor in 1987 and to full professor in 1993. He was honored with the Incentive Award by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) in 1989.

From 2002 to 2006, he served as head of the Neurology Department at GATA Haydarpaşa; he also served as editor-in-chief of the Turkish Journal of Neurology beginning in 2003 and was appointed Coordinator of the Cognitive Group of the Turkish Neurological Society in 2004, thereby contributing to the field of neurology. Since 2006, he has also played a significant role as Secretary of the Cognitive Group of the Federation of European Neurological Societies. Since 2006, he has continued his work as a neurologist at NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital.
