Üsküdar University Founding Rector Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan made evaluations about the Families at University project and shared important information about the concept of freedom poisoning.
,Tarhan: "If the family is not happy, healthy individuals do not grow up"
Commenting on the Families at University Project, Tarhan said, "Just as bricks make up a building, and cells make up our body, the family is the building block of society. If the family, which forms the building block of society, is not happy, healthy and happy individuals do not grow up and happy relationships do not emerge. There is currently a poisoning of freedom all over the world. This poisoning has caused us to lose the balance between freedom and responsibility. A generation is coming that perceives autonomy as irresponsibility. The poisoning of freedom has become damaging to the institution of the family. As a result, the divorce rate has increased. Divorces have increased 6 times in the last five years. We cannot predict what will happen in the future. Everyone should work on this issue and hold the tip of this issue. As Üsküdar University, we have implemented the 'Families at University' social responsibility project."
Tarhan: "We aim to strengthen the family with positive psychotherapy"
Stating that they put positive psychology at the center of the project, Tarhan said, "With the Families at University project, it is aimed to create a "Conscious Individual, Healthy Family, Strong Society" model based on scientific studies and covering protective and preventive activities. With positive psychotherapy, we aim to strengthen the family without inflicting wounds or childhood traumas. We aim to teach positive life strategies against negative life strategies. We signed protocols with Pendik, Üsküdar, Eyüp and Gaziosmanpaşa District Governorships in Istanbul."
Tarhan: "Four different groups are trained in the project"
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated that 4 different groups were trained in the project and concluded his words as follows "There are red, white, pink and orange groups in the project. We can define the families in the red group as families who have not received expert help for their internal conflicts, but where there is always tension at home. The pink group consists of individuals over the age of 18 and couples preparing for marriage, while in the white group, young people under the age of 18 are informed about marriage-related issues. In the orange group, couples who have not yet experienced problems but are at risk are grouped. Only one of the groups has treatment, the other three have prevention and protection treatment."
