Joy and sadness are their excuses. If they have social anxiety and shyness, their risk of addiction is 13 times higher. Experts point out that the age of substance use has decreased to a young age and emphasize that children who cannot say "no" are more easily addicted. Experts say that attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder that is not treated on time also increases the risk of addiction at a later age.

Üsküdar University NPISTANBUL Neuropsychiatry Hospital psychiatry specialist Prof. Dr. Nesrin Dilbaz said that addiction is a social health problem.

Describing addiction as a contagious disease, Dilbaz noted that they observed that substance use is under the age of 18-20. Pointing out that young people are targeted, Prof. Dr. Dilbaz made important warnings to parents:

FIRST TO TRY AND THEN TO LIVE!

"Young people who are targeted start experimenting with the substance. Everything is tried in the youth period. The first experiment becomes social use after a while. So much so that it becomes a means of socialization and creates a subculture, it absorbs the person. Later on, he/she meets other substances there as well. Then the substance becomes a means of relieving anxiety and unhappiness. In the last stage, it becomes a means of using to live. Substance use gradually reaches this point. It becomes the purpose of life after a while.

THEY USE BECAUSE THEY CANNOT SOLVE PROBLEMS

The youth is already made up of the group that says nothing can happen to me. I won't get sick, I won't get into an accident while speeding in traffic, and they think they are immortal and will never get sick. Addiction is not a personality weakness but a disease. Most addicts say 'I used because I was sad, I used because I was happy'. They use because they cannot solve problems.

Why should it be a tool for having fun? They say that marijuana is a weed and does no harm. However, this is a big mistake. Cannabis is a substance that seriously damages the brain. It causes the disease we call schizophrenia. If the person genetically carries it, smoking cannabis triggers it.

Attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder disorders that are not treated in time increase the risk of addiction at a later age. Statistics show that 25% of adults who use substances suffer from these disorders.

If we do not treat children properly, the risk of substance abuse increases. People with what we call anxiety disorder, who have the problem of not being able to socialize with others, not being able to talk, not being able to meet new people, see that they feel relieved when they drink a glass of alcohol and start using. One glass turns into two glasses, half a bottle ... and so on. People who are shy and have social anxiety are 13 times more likely to be addicted to substances than normal people.

A CHILD WHO CANNOT SAY NO BECOMES ADDICTED MORE EASILY!

No matter how much pressure you put, one way or another, this young person will somehow come across something harmful. As a family, it is necessary to teach the child to say no to things they should not do while giving education. As parents, we should not give the message 'Don't think, I will decide and think for you'. We must teach children to control themselves. Otherwise others will control them."
