Premature Ejaculation

Premature Ejaculation

Premature ejaculation is defined as a condition in which a person ejaculates involuntarily before or during intercourse and this event causes significant distress to the person.
In order to make this diagnosis, the person must be sexually active and have sexual intercourse with a certain frequency.
Premature ejaculation is the most common sexual dysfunction in men and is found in almost every 3-4 men in the society.

Premature Ejaculation Causes and Treatment

1.Emotional Factors

  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Performance anxiety,
  • Feelings of guilt,
  • Problems in the relationship,

2.Erectile dysfunction

The problem of premature ejaculation also arises in men who have problems with erection. Men who cannot get enough erection or who have problems in staying erect may react by ejaculating early inevitably by worrying.
However, if erectile dysfunction is treated, premature ejaculation may disappear.

A certain sexual experience is required for the diagnosis of premature ejaculation. In the first sexual experiences, uncontrolled ejaculation may occur because there is not yet the ability to control ejaculation.

Control over ejaculation is gained over time and with sexual experience. This is a kind of learning process. However, situations such as late sexuality, insufficient sexual experience, sexuality indexed to intercourse, sexuality in an anxious environment, sexuality targeting ejaculation make it difficult to learn ejaculation control. The most prominent factor among these is anxiety.

The more anxiety during sexuality, the more the learning process is disrupted. When the first experiences are experienced with paid or risky sexual activities and when sexual activities are experienced with the anxiety of being caught at any moment, anxiety is high and the ability to control ejaculation cannot be acquired.

Having late sex is also a factor. Even if the person is in a comfortable environment with his/her partner, if he/she is not comfortable, he/she may not be able to gain this control. Anxiety not only prevents the realization of body sensations and learning, but also initiates the ejaculation reflex.

In men with premature ejaculation, the problem may be mild at first and may become severe over time. The most severe form is ejaculation during intercourse attempts or foreplay without intercourse.

Over time, premature ejaculation negatively affects the sexuality and non-sexual life of both the man and his partner. This problem often leads to other sexual problems. It can lead to sexual reluctance and erection problems in men. In some cases, men try not to make their partners feel their premature ejaculation problems. This can lead to communication problems between the couple and related sexual problems.

In heterosexual couples, sexual reluctance in women, inability to orgasm and arousal disorders may occur as a result of the man not devoting enough time to foreplay. In severe forms of premature ejaculation, intercourse cannot take place. Couples may experience serious relationship problems if they do not approach the problem constructively.

Men who think that they have premature ejaculation problem should first evaluate whether they really have a problem and consult a physician if necessary. Regardless of the situation, being anxious, carrying anxiety-increasing thoughts such as fear of ejaculation or failure during sexual intercourse will increase the problem.

Premature ejaculation is a very common problem. This should be known by both the man and his partner. For this reason, attitudes such as the man blaming himself or seeing himself as inadequate and worthless, as if the problem is only in himself, can lead to additional mental problems. The judgmental attitude of the partner may also increase anxiety and the severity of premature ejaculation. Sexual communication, a relaxed attitude during sexual intercourse, and not putting intercourse at the center of sexual life can reduce the effects and severity of the problem.

Sexual therapies are more successful in couples with good sexual communication.

Definitive treatment of premature ejaculation is possible with sexual therapy with a sexual therapist. Sexual therapies in which the person is treated together with his/her partner basically aim to help the man gain control of ejaculation. The aim of sexual therapy is not only to control ejaculation, but also to correct false sexual beliefs, to provide quality foreplay, to learn sexual communication and to create a perception of sexuality that aims to gain pleasure from the whole of sexuality, not the union. This treatment can be performed by mental health professionals trained in sexual therapy.

This problem, called premature ejaculation, can be frustrating and embarrassing. Sometimes it can even damage relationships. For this reason, you should definitely look for a solution and take the necessary precautions. Remember that no one has to live with it.
