Stating that contrary to popular belief, Alzheimer's disease does not only occur in old age, but also at an early age, Neurology Specialist Prof. Dr. Oğuz Tanrıdağ says that early Alzheimer's can be seen from the late 30s to the 60s. Tanrıdağ also makes important suggestions such as "Do not believe the myths about the disease, do not live alone, do not stay at home, do not be a person of your age, get rid of your status, stop sitting in the center of the world".

Prof. Dr. Oğuz Tanrıdağ, Head of the Department of Neurology at Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine and Neurology Specialist at NPISTANBUL Hospital, emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, stating that Alzheimer's can sometimes occur at an early age.

It can be seen from the late 30s

Prof. Dr. Oğuz Tanrıdağ noted that early Alzheimer's can be seen starting from the end of the 30s until the 60s and said, "Early Alzheimer's means Alzheimer's that occurs between young and middle ages on a genetic and familial basis. Familial Alzheimer's is Alzheimer's with direct genetic transmission. Chromosome 1, 14 and 21 are considered responsible for early-onset Alzheimer's."

Diagnosed with brain scans

Stating that the symptoms of early Alzheimer's are mostly manifested by psychiatric findings, Prof. Dr. Oğuz Tanrıdağ said, "Early Alzheimer's is diagnosed through brain scans, brainwater analysis and genetic blood test in the presence of Alzheimer's patients in the family."

Attention to confusion

Noting that there are more confusion and psychiatric findings in early Alzheimer's than forgetfulness, Prof. Dr. Oğuz Tanrıdağ said that simple forgetfulness is a normal condition that everyone has. Prof. Dr. Oğuz Tanrıdağ stated that near-term forgetfulness should be taken into consideration.

Early diagnosis and follow-up is very important

Noting that those with a family history of Alzheimer's disease are in the risk group, Prof. Dr. Oğuz Tanrıdağ emphasized that it is not possible to prevent early Alzheimer's, but it is important to follow up with early diagnosis.

Drug treatment is applied

Stating that Alzheimer's disease is treated with medication, Prof. Dr. Oğuz Tanrıdağ emphasized that the treatment should not be interrupted.
