Problem Behavior Checklist (ABC)

Problem Behavior Checklist (ABC)

It is used to evaluate the problem behaviors observed in individuals with intellectual disabilities and autistic disorders and the effects of medication or other intervention methods on these behaviors.

It is completed by parents, educators, teachers and/or clinicians who know the child closely.

It can be used for the assessment of children aged 1-4 years.

The scale consists of 57 items and 5 subscales. The subscale dimensions measured are: Sensory, Relationship Building, Body and object use, Language Skills, Social and Self-Care skills

The lowest score that can be obtained from the scale is 0 and the highest score is 159.

The correct classification rate of ABC was found to be 88%. The cut-off score in the scale was determined as 39. When the reliability findings were analyzed, Cronbach's alpha coefficient and two-half test reliability were found to be .92. Inter-rater reliability was .86 for 100 children independently assessed by two teachers and .59 for 69 children assessed by a teacher and a parent. In the study, diagnosis and the degree of the problem were used as external criteria. The results support the criterion validity of the scale.
