Rights of Patients and Relatives

  1. Right to Benefit from Services in accordance with Justice and Equity
  • Our patients who request service from our hospital have the right to benefit from the existing examination, diagnosis, treatment and improvement opportunities regardless of their thoughts and social characteristics.
  • Our organization and the health personnel working in our organization cannot diagnose and treat the patient in violation of medical principles and rules or in a deceptive manner.
  • In our hospital, all our patients are directed to participate in the care and treatment process and can benefit from information brochures for their education and participation.
  1. Right to Information and Informed Consent
  • Our patients have the right to receive verbal and written information from the doctor responsible for the coordination of the treatment through themselves or their legal representatives about the probable or definite diagnosis of the disease, the procedures to be applied, the treatment, their benefits and possible drawbacks, alternative treatment methods and the main consequences that may arise if the treatment is not accepted, provided that their health is not adversely affected.
  • The treatments, possible complications and risks are explained to the patient and/or his/her legal representative by his/her physician and his/her informed written consent is obtained. For the explanation to be valid, the patient must be in a mental state to understand the explanations. If our patients are requested to participate in any scientific study to be carried out within our hospital, the written consent of the patient or his/her relative is required.
  1. Right to Communication
  • A patient who does not understand the official spoken language has the right to request an interpreter for the purpose of communication, if it can be provided and paid for.
  • Provided that it does not adversely affect their treatment and with the approval of the relevant physician, they have the right to communicate with people outside the hospital, face to face, by telephone, visit and mail. The duration, time and visiting hours of telephone calls are determined by our hospital.
  1. Right to Choose and Change Personnel and/or Health Institution
  • Our patient has the right to choose his/her physician and/or health institution and to change them at any stage of treatment.
  • The patient has the right to freely choose and change the personnel who will provide health services to him/her and to request consultation of other doctors, provided that the legislation and the procedures determined in our hospital are complied with.
  1. Medical Care
  • Staff shall exercise the medical care required by the patient's condition. Even if it is not possible to save the patient's life or preserve his or her health, it is obligatory to try to reduce or alleviate his or her suffering.
  1. Right to Respect for Privacy
  • The right to keep information about the patient confidential. Information about the patient cannot be listened to or given to others without their permission.
  • Patient records stored on the computer can only be examined by those responsible for patient care. It is important that employees observe and protect these rights and that patients are informed about such rights.
  • Information about our patients cannot be shared in public environments and in areas where others are present.
  • Only authorized persons can access the health assessments of our patients.
  • Our patients' health expenditures and sources are kept confidential except for the relevant personnel. Other healthcare professionals do not give opinions on price and payment issues.
  • The privacy rights of our patients are not violated under any circumstances.
  • All examinations, procedures and treatments of our patients are carried out in an environment that meets their privacy needs.
  • If the patient's interviews are listened to or watched by others for educational purposes, the patient's permission is requested first; the patient should not feel under pressure when giving this permission.
  • If images from the psychiatric ward are to be published in printing and broadcasting organs, care is taken to ensure that the identity of the patients is not recognized.
  • If the life of a third party or the health of the public is at risk, the right to confidentiality is not respected. Violent behavior of the patient can be prevented by warning the individual in question and legal authorities.

Rights of the Personal Data Subject

  • As personal data owners, you can submit your requests regarding your rights by filling out the "Personal Data Information and Request Form" on our website and hand-delivering it to the address of the hospital from which you have received service, sending it via notary public, sending an e-mail signed with a secure electronic signature belonging to you via e-mailor if you send a "Word or PDF" extension file signed with a secure electronic signature by e-mail to kisiselveri@npistanbul.com; NPISTANBUL Hospital will finalize the request free of charge as soon as possible and within thirty days at the latest, depending on the nature of the request. However, if the transaction requires an additional cost other than free of charge legal requirements, NPISTANBUL Hospital may charge the fee in the tariff determined by the Personal Data Protection Board. In this context, personal data owners;

  • Although it has been processed in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 6698 and other relevant laws, to request the deletion or destruction of personal data in the event that the reasons requiring its processing disappear and to request notification of the transaction made within this scope to third parties to whom personal data is transferred,
  • To object to the emergence of a result to the detriment of the person himself/herself by analyzing the processed data exclusively through automated systems,
  • In case of damage due to unlawful processing of personal data, it has the right to demand compensation for the damage.
  1. Right to Refuse and Stop Treatment
  • Except for medical and legal obligations, our patients have the right to approve or reject the decisions to be made for treatment after receiving detailed information about the treatment to be applied.
  • Except in medically and legally mandatory cases, the patient may withdraw his/her consent. In case the patient refuses the treatment, the patient or his/her legal representative will be informed about the consequences of not applying the treatment and will be made to sign an Examination and Treatment Refusal Record.
  • A patient who has previously refused treatment has the right to receive the necessary medical care and treatment upon re-application. This situation is not used against the patient in his/her re-application.
  1. Right to Consultation
  • Patients or their 1st degree relatives have the right to request consultation with another specialist with their consent. However, the treatment recommended as a result of the consultation shall be carried out by the staff of the health institution where the patient is located, provided that a consensus is reached with the patient's responsible physician.
  1. Right to know the cost of examinations and treatment
  • The patient or his/her legal representative has the right to request and receive a clear and detailed invoice from the healthcare provider of the charges for the services provided.
  1. Right to Security
  • Our hospital takes the necessary measures to protect and ensure the safety of life and property of patients and visitors.
  • A controlled entry system is applied for the floors where our patients in the risk group are located.
  • All employees of our hospital wear name badges.
  • Our hospital is constantly monitored with security cameras to protect against theft, loss and physical attack, and can be intervened immediately in case of a possible problem.
  • Our hospital has a security plan for possible disasters and emergencies.
  1. Right to Have a Companion
  • In order to assist the patient during the examination and / or treatment, the patient may be asked to have a companion to the extent that the facilities of the institution allow and the patient's health condition requires, depending on the approval of the doctor responsible for the treatment.
  • In all kinds of procedures to be applied to our patients, a nurse / health security personnel is available in accordance with the patient's condition.
  1. The Right to Keep Personal Belongings with Him/her During Hospitalization
  • Patients can bring their personal belongings to the hospital. However, materials that may pose a danger to patient safety are taken by the nurse and kept in a safe place, provided that they are returned to the patient later and used and returned when necessary.
  1. The Right to Fulfill Religious Obligations and Benefit from Religious Services
  • Our patients have the right to fulfill their religious obligations to the extent of the possibilities of our hospital and within the framework of the measures taken.
  1. Right of Application and Complaint
  • Our patients have the right to file a complaint, to have their complaints taken into consideration and evaluated, and to be informed of the outcome.
  • In addition, without prejudice to the right to apply to the relevant professional organizations and courts, our organization has the right to report complaints regarding patient rights to the medical or administrative authority of the organization.
  • The patient has the right to apply to the highest local administrative authority of the place where the health institution is located if the relevant authorities cannot find a solution or if the applicant patient does not accept the solution.
  1. Right to Request a Second Opinion
  • The patient has the right to receive information about his/her health condition from a physician working in the same branch other than the physician dealing with the patient's treatment and designated by the institution or another physician designated by the patient/legal representative.

Responsibilities of Patients and Relatives

  1. Patients Responsibilities for Visitor Admission
  • Patients should accept their visitors within the framework of the rules set by the health institution. Visiting hours and days in our hospital are notified to our patients and their relatives upon admission to our hospital. Visitors are not accepted outside these hours and days.
  • Children between the ages of 0-10 (for the purpose of protecting children's health) should not be accepted for visits.
  • Visitors should not be asked to bring food and drink in any way and should not accept them.
  • Visitors should not bring anything to other patients, and if they do, they should not be accepted by the patient.
  • Receive as few visitors as possible at the same time.
  • Help prevent visitors from using items belonging to their own patients or other patients and prevent them from sitting on patients' beds.
  1. Responsibility to Provide Information
  • The patient must report all information about his/her health in the past and any changes that occurred during and after the treatment in the hospital.
  • The doses and method of use of the drugs to be used in the treatment planned by the doctor for the patient during his/her stay in our hospital will be available in his/her file. During the use of these medications, any side effects may occur, even if there is a very small possibility. In this case, he/she should inform his/her doctor.
  • He/she must inform whether he/she understands correctly what is expected of him/her regarding the procedures and treatments to be performed.
  • The patient must inform our hospital if a special nutrition program will be applied during his/her hospitalization.
  1. Compliance with Recommendations
  • The patient is also obliged to comply with the treatment plan proposed by the authorized physician responsible for his/her treatment and to accept the fulfillment of the care plan by nurses and relevant health personnel in accordance with the instructions of the authorized physician.
  1. Responsibility to Refuse Planned Treatment
  • The patient himself/herself is responsible for the consequences that may arise if he/she refuses the planned treatment or does not follow the doctor's instructions.
  1. Examination and Treatment Expenses
  • The patient or his/her relatives must inform how the medical expenses will be paid.
  • If the patient's expenses are paid by an institution, he/she must bring the relevant documents (these documents are not required in emergencies).
  • If the patient is to make the payment himself/herself, he/she must do so within the period determined by the institution.
  1. Responsibility to Follow Hospital Rules and Practices
  • Our patients, their companions and visitors are obliged to comply with the rules and practices determined by our institution. These rules are notified to our patients following hospitalization.
  1. Showing Respect
  • The patient must take into account the rights of other patients and hospital staff. Otherwise, the measures to be taken by the management must be followed.
  1. Infectious Disease
  • A patient with a suspected or diagnosed infectious disease should not request discharge without the permission of his/her authorized physician.
  1. Inappropriate Request
  • The patient must not request the administration of any medication or treatment not approved by his/her authorized physician and not included in the treatment plan.
  1. Indemnification Responsibility
  • The patient must compensate for any damage or loss caused by misuse or intentional damage to the health institution's fixtures or consumables.
