What are the harms of hypertension?

Hypertension is a chronic disease that causes very serious complications. It can cause deterioration of cardiovascular health. Hypertension negatively affects the heart, blood vessels, kidneys, brain and eyes. If left untreated, hypertension can even lead to death.

  • Arteries are destroyed
  • Causes the heart to enlarge
  • Causes paralysis (stroke)
  • Causes visual impairment and blindness
  • May cause brain hemorrhage
  • Increases the risk of heart attack
  • It can lead to impairment in the functioning of the kidneys and even cause kidney failure

How is hypertension treated?

Treatment of hypertension patients may vary depending on the cause of hypertension. In patients with vascular occlusion, hypertension can be treated with vessels opened after surgical operations. In cases that do not require surgical operation, medication is generally recommended for patients. Since it is chronic, the use of medication should be continued. In addition to medication, patients are treated with changes in their lifestyle and eating patterns. By treating the complications caused by hypertension in the body, improvements are achieved in the course of the disease.
