How to Control Anger?

The stress and trauma people experience in their daily lives can lead to excessive anger. "Is it possible to stay calm in the environment we live in?" What is Anger Management?

Gaining the ability to show anger correctly is called "anger control" . Although anger is a healthy and normal emotion in some cases, it ceases to be healthy at the point where it harms oneself and one's environment. First of all, however, anger is a normal emotional state. It ceases to be healthy only if the person's reaction of anger in response harms himself and his environment. There are different types of anger. The different types of anger can be listed as follows;
Chronic anger: It lasts for a long time. It can affect the immune system and is caused by psychological disorders.
Overflowing anger: It is caused by the inability to cope and cope with aggravating life circumstances.
Anger at oneself: This is when anger is turned on oneself because of the guilt one feels.
Judgmental anger: This anger is caused by a feeling of vulnerability towards others.
Straw flame: In this type of anger, the intensity of anger rises suddenly but subsides quickly.

What are the symptoms of anger management disorder?

When anger is felt towards a situation or a person, this anger can be shown in different ways as a reaction. The angry person shows different symptoms both mentally and physically. We can list these symptoms as follows;

  • Intense stress and tension
  • Increased heart rate
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Irregular breathing
  • Predisposition to violence, taking out anger on a person or object
  • Communication disorder
  • Impatience
  • Don't speak without thinking, don't shout

What are the effects of anger on the body?

In anger, the person releases stress hormones and this can cause many symptoms such as tingling, heart palpitations, chest tightness, headache and fever, sweating. In the long term, it affects the immune system badly. Anger and tolerance levels gradually decrease. Negative emotions and thoughts affect the person more. Sometimes the person gets angry without realizing it, whereas such situations can make the person prone to overreaction and sometimes violence .

What should be done to control anger?

People can cope with anger. The first way to do this is to realize what you are angry about. Easy but effective rules to consider for anger control are as follows;

  • Notice the signals that come to your body when you feel anger. These signals are easily recognized. The angry person looks scary and the other person activates their defense mechanism.
  • You need to recognize your own anger and your own process.
  • When you are angry, get away from the situation. However, if this individual is your partner, indicate that you will return after you have calmed down.
  • Go through a question and answer process with the other person and make your comments later. Concentrate your attention on the answers you will receive.
  • Be clear in expressing your feelings and thoughts.
  • If things are getting more difficult, have the conversation later.
  • If there has been an act that you are angry about and regret, know how to apologize and show your regret no matter where you are.
  • If you still cannot control your anger despite all your efforts, you can consult a specialist.
