SUSTAINED ATTENTION SCALE

It is a test that measures the attention and concentration of children and adults over a prolonged period of time. The aim is to be able to maintain sustained attention and alertness under changing conditions through repetition. It measures general motivation and sustained attention ability. The test can be administered at three levels of difficulty and any impairment is evaluated neurologically.

FIELD OF APPLICATION

It is a test that measures the Attention and Concentration of children and adults over a long period of time.

THEORETICAL BASIS:

The most important characteristic of sustained attention is the ability to maintain sustained attention and vigilance under changing conditions through repetition. Vigilance requires perceiving irregular stimuli that rarely change in time and space. For this reason, it requires us to react less to stimuli than sustained attention. Sustained attention, on the other hand, requires more motivation and sustained attention because the same image persists with little change. For this reason, the sustained attention test measures general motivation and sustained attention ability, which are not usually linked to intelligence.

Some people who were not able to maintain their attention for a long time in the first test were told to take the test more carefully and patiently for a longer period of time, and when the test was repeated, successful results were obtained.

This demonstrates the positive effects of increasing motivation.
