What is the Psychological Aspect of Addiction?

The psychological aspect of addiction, when addiction is evaluated from a psychological point of view, although it gives pleasure at first, this momentary pleasure gradually leads to mental disorder.

THE PSYCHOLOGICAL SIDE OF ADDICTION

The psychological aspect of addiction is based on the fact that human beings are social creatures, and when we examine human psychology scientifically, we come to the conclusion that chemicals or other addictive elements that change the psychological life of individuals produce different results in the lives of each person.

When addiction is evaluated from a psychological point of view, although it initially brings pleasure to people, these momentary pleasures gradually lead to mental disorder, causing the will to get out of control and the mind to become unable to function.
This mental disorder manifests itself in the form of a decrease in self-care and withdrawal in social life by spreading to the person's ordinary life and behavior. By weakening the adaptability of the person, it leads the person who cannot continue his/her work and school life to failures.
Although all the effects of addiction affect each other in a chained way, resulting in different results in different areas of life, in fact, due to the effect of addiction on psychology, it leads people to a single possible path, which is the path of failure.

In addition to the failures in work, school and social life, it also causes people to face forensic problems by disrupting the anger control mechanism in people, causing unnecessary arguments, causing social problems for addicts, causing anxiety and sudden outbursts of anger.
When the cause and effect relationships we have explained are evaluated, we can see that although addiction is examined behaviorally, socially and biologically, the "psychological" side of addiction is one of the most damaging and damaging aspects of addiction in every individual.

In the evaluations made on the psychological side of addiction: the onset of addiction, the duration of addiction, the treatment process of addiction and the post-treatment process should be reviewed together and a general conclusion should be reached in this way. In the treatment process of addiction in alcohol and substance addiction treatment centers (AMATEM) affiliated to hospitals, addiction can be solved with medication and individual therapy carried out together with the patient, as well as group therapies. The fact that the addiction treatment process should continue with outpatient treatment for those whose inpatient treatment has been finalized and that the addiction treatment process should continue with doctor and psychologist interviews shows how much sensitivity the psychological side of addiction requires.
