It is a 19-item self-report questionnaire developed by Miller and Tonigan (1996) and designed to assess readiness and motivation for change in patients with alcohol use disorder. Factor analysis of the original scale showed that the form was clustered in three domains: "realization", "dilemma" and "taking steps". The factorial structure of the 16-item Turkish version of the scale was found to be compatible with the original scale. In the internal consistency measurement of the scale, Cronbach's alpha coefficients were 0.77 for "realization" and 0.77 for "dilemma" in patients with alcohol dependence.77 for "realizing", 0.74 for "dilemma", 0.78 for "taking a step" and 0.85 for the whole scale (Evren et al. 2008a).

When the version of the 16-item version, which was found to be valid and reliable in Turkish alcohol addicts, developed for addicts using non-alcoholic substances was applied in mixed substance addicts, Cronbach's alpha value was found to be 0.84 for the whole scale (Evren et al. 2011b).
