Üsküdar University Rector Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated that it is inconvenient to remove the child from the sacrificial slaughter environment and explained the ways to make children love the sacrifice.
Do not take your children away from the sacrifice
Prof. Dr. Tarhan said that the psychological effect of sacrifice varies according to the age group of the child. Prof. Tarhan said, "What is sacrifice, why is it sacrificed? As sacrifice is a natural situation, it is necessary to explain this to the child in terms of the balance in the universe."
CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE RAISED AWAY FROM THE VALUES OF SOCIETY
Noting that children do not know the answers to questions such as "What is sacrifice, how is it distributed and donated" and do not see such rituals, Tarhan said that this causes children to grow up far from the values of society. Regarding families who want to show and let their children watch the sacrifice, Tarhan said, "The child looks at his/her parents with a sidelong glance, and if his/her parents are calm, the child will not cause any problems. It is inconvenient to take the child away from the environment in a hurry and send him/her to another house because a lot of question marks will remain in the child's mind. Instead of confronting the child with the facts, it is to take the child away from the facts, to push the child away from a simple pain and into a bigger problem."
Tarhan said, "That practice and sharing there should be kept alive. Therefore, it is beneficial for families to keep that ritual alive for their children, even if not every year. It is important that this tradition continues, and for this tradition to continue, the tactile part of that tradition should also continue. Therefore, instead of destroying it, it is useful to keep it alive, even if symbolically."
THAT RITUAL MUST BE KEPT ALIVE
Noting that the ritual of sacrifice should be experienced in order to leave a mark on the child's soul, Tarhan concluded his words as follows: "That practice and sharing there must be kept alive. Therefore, it is beneficial for families to let their children experience that ritual, even if not every year. It is important that this tradition continues, and for this tradition to continue, the tactile part of that tradition should also continue. Therefore, instead of destroying it, it is useful to keep it alive, even if symbolically."
