Infectious Diseases

About the Department

It deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that can occur in any part of the body, caused by bacteria, viruses or parasites, some of which can be contagious.

As a result of advances in diagnostic methods and the use of new antimicrobial drugs, many infectious diseases can be diagnosed and treated.

The microorganisms that cause these diseases can be shown by culture methods, serologic tests or direct examinations.

Infectious disease specialists plan and implement teamwork to monitor and prevent nosocomial infections caused by multi-resistant microorganisms, especially in intensive care units. The infection control committee established for this purpose carries out the tasks of preventing the inappropriate use of antibiotics, continuously training the staff for infection control, and supervising the proper and effective cleaning of all units of the hospital.
