The hepatitis B (HBV) germ is a type of germ that can be passed through the blood in a simple way. The hepatitis B (HBV) germ manifests itself in people with symptoms of flu infection. In some people, there are no symptoms of this disease. It can therefore be difficult to detect. Anti-HBS is the name given to the test used to monitor the hepatitis B virus. Elevated levels of anti HBS in the body can be easily detected.

Hepatitis B virus can be transmitted in different ways. These include sexual transmission, uncontrolled blood transfusion, use of uncleaned medical equipment, mother carrying hepatitis B germs and infecting the baby at birth, sharing personal items such as toothbrushes, etc. Anti HBS is done by taking a blood sample from the person and this test gives positive or negative results. As a result of the test, it is understood whether the individual is immune to the microbe in question.
The human body develops a defense mechanism against antibodies. These antibodies, in turn, create a permanent immunity in the body. Thus, when the body is confronted with the hepatitis B microbe, it becomes ready to produce antibodies against the antigens formed on the surface of the microbe.

What is Anti HBS Positive and Negative?

The anti HBS test measures the level of antibodies in the body that neutralize the microbe. Therefore, a positive result is not a problem. In fact, a positive anti HBS rate means that the body is immune to the hepatitis B microbe. A negative test result means that the individual's body has a low resistance to the hepatitis B germ. Negative results are generally seen in individuals who have not been vaccinated before.

What should be the Anti HBS Elevation?

These values are investigated with the result of the blood test applied to the person, the anti HBS height in the body is determined in this way. While the test result is around 5 mIU/ml in unvaccinated individuals, anti HBS positive is around 12 mIU/ml in vaccinated individuals.
In vaccinated but unvaccinated people, the result is between 5 mIU/ml and 12 mIU/ml and this test result is called "indeterminate".
Ifthe anti HBS elevation is in the range of100 mIU/ml or even 1000 mIU/ml, this is considered normal.

What should be the Anti HBS Value Range?

Anti HBS test is applied to understand the immunity of the microbe. In vaccinated people, anti HBS values greater than 10 mIU/ml in adult male and female individuals are considered normal. Even if a person has not been vaccinated, this value can be greater than 100 mIU/ml. Thus, this person may have had hepatitis B infection.

How is Anti HBS Treated?

When the disease is first detected, the germ has just formed and the virus needs to be limited, and treatment is applied accordingly. However, this is controlled with the Hepatitis B vaccine. However, in advanced diseases, the liver may not be able to fulfill its function. Therefore, diseases such as cirrhosis or cancer may occur due to infections.
In very early times, a person's liver can become inflamed. The trigger of this condition is that the Hepatitis B microbe cannot clean itself in the body. In such a case, medication is administered.
Blood levels are constantly monitored during treatment. Elimination of the microbe in the body does not mean that the disease will not recur. Therefore, intensive follow-up and control must be ensured. After a long time, the immune system that the body develops on its own against the hepatitis B microbe that occurs after a long time fights with the microbe and the disease is eliminated.
