Nutrition and Diet Specialist Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gizem Köse from Üsküdar University NPISTANBUL Hospital pointed out the importance of herbal teas in strengthening the immune system.
Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gizem Köse gave the following information about herbal teas:
"Especially sage has the ability to protect from germs and bacteria with its antimicrobial effect. In case of mild fatigue symptoms, it is recommended to consume sage for disease prevention.
Rosehip is a good source of vitamin C. It is the most commonly used plant for strengthening the immune system. However, it can be lost during brewing. Therefore, long-term brewing should not be applied, it should be finished as quickly as possible. Because when it is waited for a long time, the vitamin C in it is oxidized and lost.
Ginger and mint tea should be drunk in febrile diseases
Peppermint tea is used in flu infections because it warms the body and makes it sweat if there is fever. It can also be added fresh to the tea consumed. Likewise, ginger can also be used in febrile diseases and is also useful in removing the infection in the lungs from the body.
Roibos tea, also known as red tea, helps to increase body resistance. It also supports appetite control when consumed with cinnamon. It is suitable to drink 1 cup a day.
Chamomile tea for fatigue!
Jasmine and chamomile teas provide muscle relaxation in cases of fatigue and weakness. It is recommended to consume 1 cup a day, especially in winter. When consumed in the evening hours, it helps to regulate sleep. Regular sleep allows the body to recover and strengthen the immune system. Thus, it can indirectly protect against infections."
Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gizem Köse noted that 2 cups of unmixed herbal teas can be consumed daily, regardless of whether children, adults or the elderly.
