Experts say, "Make sure you get your sleep before you set off. In order to prevent swelling in your body, consume 500ml of water in an average of 4 hours."

Neurology Specialist Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Önder Kuzu from Üsküdar University NPISTANBUL Hospital said that most of the accidents that occur in traffic are due to lack of sleep.

Stating that insomnia that occurs while driving a motor vehicle can have an effect similar to being drunk, Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Önder Kuzu said, "Very early morning or night journeys can be risky on long journeys by car. Getting on the road with a full night's sleep, energized and rested will reduce the risk of accidents."

Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Önder Kuzu gave the following advice to vehicle drivers who will go on long journeys during the 9-day holiday, including the Feast of Sacrifice:

- Take care not to go on a long journey alone.

- Take a break when there is the slightest sign of fatigue or sleep during the journey.

-Take a short nap during the break. During rest, you can consume brain-stimulating drinks such as tea and coffee in moderation.

- Keep the temperature inside the vehicle at a comfortable level and wear sunglasses if it is sunny.

SALT SHOULD BE REDUCED AND WATER CONSUMPTION SHOULD BE INCREASED

Drawing attention to fluid loss in the summer months, Dr. Gizem Köse, Nutrition and Diet Specialist from Üsküdar University NPISTANBUL Hospital, said that 500ml of fluid should be taken every 4 hours on average to prevent swelling in the body. Dr. Köse said, "The person should continue to consume fluids after the journey is completed. When you come from the road, you need to support your circulatory system until it finds its balance. For this, you need to reduce your salt and spice consumption and drink at least 1.5 liters of water. In addition, consuming 1 glass of water or mineral water after consuming meat facilitates the digestion of meat. Water consumption is also important for the elimination of indigestion after meals." Köse's other suggestions for those who will go on a journey are as follows:

"Reduce your salt consumption the day before the trip. Make sure you have breakfast before you set off on a long journey to increase attention. If you consume eggs for breakfast, it will both keep you full for a long time and help you focus. Also, do not forget to take fresh fruit with you. You can consume it as a snack 2 hours after you set off."
