Benton Visual Memory Test

It can be used in situations where visual-spatial memory is to be measured. The original test, developed by Benton (1974), involves the presentation of shapes at different times, drawing the shape by looking at it, drawing it from memory with a delay, or recognizing it among other shapes. The Benton Visual Memory Test is able to assess immediate and delayed shape memory; moreover, it is able to distinguish visual memory from visual perception and motor skills. The test has been used in Turkey in studies involving healthy individuals with different developmental characteristics and various clinical samples.

It is a performance test. It is applied individually.

It can be applied to individuals aged 8 and over. The application time is 5 minutes.

The test has 2 forms: Drawing (pattern) Benton, this form has forms C, D and E. Demonstrative (selection) Benton, this form has forms F and G.

Qualification and Training of the Practitioner: Those who can administer this test should be graduates of psychology or psychological counseling and guidance departments of universities. While applying the test does not require a training process, it is necessary to have received training to interpret it.
