Total Hip Replacement

Total Hip Replacement

Total hip replacement is a surgical procedure to replace a hip joint that has been severely damaged due to arthritis, fracture or other causes with an artificial joint. The prostheses used are made of titanium or cobalt chromium metal. These parts are placed where the joint joins.

There are no age or weight restrictions for total hip replacement surgery. The surgical procedure depends on the doctor's assessment of the situation. In order for doctors to recommend hip replacement surgery;

  • The person has hip pain that limits daily movements such as walking or bending,
  • Hip pain that persists during the day or night, even at rest,
  • Stiffness in the hip that limits the ability to move or lift the leg,
  • Surgery is recommended if the pain persists even after medication, physiotherapy or the use of a cane.
