Prof. Dr. Kemal Aydınalp, who worked as a psychiatrist for half a century, died in the hospital where he had been treated for a while. Aydınalp, who was sent off to his last journey in Ankara, was not left alone by his loved ones on his last day. Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan described his colleague Aydınalp as 'one of the hidden heroes of Turkish psychiatry, a master of using medicine and psychotherapy together'.
Prof. Dr. Kemal Aydınalp, who graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, completed his residency at Gülhane Military Medical Academy Psychiatry Clinic and became a specialist, was one of the important names contributing to the Turkish psychiatry community.
Aydınalp, who studied general and child psychiatry at the Maudsley Institute of Psychiatry in London, established the Child Psychiatry Polyclinic at the GATA Psychiatry Clinic and worked intensively on child psychiatry.
Prof. Dr. Kemal Aydınalp, who played an important role in the development of child psychiatry in Ankara and Turkey and in the training of valuable international academicians, died on Sunday, February 11.
A ceremony was held for Aydınalp at Ankara Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque following the noon prayer.
His loved ones did not leave Aydınalp alone on his last journey.
Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan was also with his colleague.
Tarhan said about Aydınalp's death, "Kemal Aydınalp was one of the hidden heroes of Turkish Psychiatry, a master of using medicine and psychotherapy together." Aydınalp was buried in the family graveyard in Gölbaşı Cemetery.
