The Louisa Duss Psychoanalytic Stories Test is a projective test. It is one of the most advanced techniques for analyzing and understanding children's problems. The test consists of ten unfinished stories. The stories are structured in such a way that children can understand and be interested in them. Each story has a content. In accordance with psychoanalytic theory, it reveals the possible problem that fits each developmental period.
The Düss Story Test is one of the most advanced techniques for analyzing children's complexes and problems. The stories used in this test are structured in a way that they can understand and be interested in. Accordingly, each story or the protagonists in the story are related to one or more complexes. During the experience, it is necessary to emphasize the questions that correspond to certain complexes and to ask deeper questions according to the meaningfulness of the answers received. This is why these stories should be used by a practitioner who is familiar with the symbols of the unconscious and the psychoanalytic technique of asking questions.
Luisa Düss chose animals as the subjects of three of the stories in order to reduce the influence of family and school elements. When administering the test, the subject should easily put himself/herself in the shoes of the protagonist. For this reason, when the stories are listed, it is preferable to start with the least guilt-inducing complexes. Although the stories are especially designed for children, they can also be applied to adults as a test of imagination.
