In order to prolong the life of batteries and prevent battery explosions, it is necessary to listen to the recommendations of experts: Phones should not be kept in hot environments, high energy should not be given even in case of fast charging, and professional support should be sought for the repair of defective phones. Prof. Dr. Osman Çerezci, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (English) at Üsküdar University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, made evaluations about the exploding cell phone batteries in recent days.
Do not keep your phone in hot environments!
Stating that battery explosions are possible with some precautions to be taken, Prof. Dr. Osman Çerezci said, "In order to prevent battery explosions, mobile phones should not be left in hot environments. Even if the phone can charge quickly, high energy should not be given. Because high energy can damage the chemical liquid inside the battery and cause unexpected events such as explosion. There are many different factors in the explosion of phone batteries. It should be ensured that the product used has passed the test and is a CE certified product."
Original parts and materials should be preferred
Emphasizing that sub-industry products should not be used in mobile phones, Prof. Dr. Osman Çerezci said, "The person who will repair the malfunctioning mobile phone should be chosen carefully. While the battery is being repaired, the battery may remain in environments where it will be damaged. It can be replaced with another battery without realizing it. Since the parts installed are not original, they may not be compatible with the cell phone and this may cause explosions."
A change in the appearance of the battery may be a harbinger of an explosion!
Pointing out the importance of being conscious about the correct use of technology as a consumer, Prof. Dr. Osman Çerezci said, "Changes in the physical appearance of the batteries may be a harbinger of an explosion. Attention should be paid to old and worn out batteries. If excessive heating is noticed in the battery, the cell phone should be turned off and left for a while. Afterwards, the physical appearance of the battery must be checked."
Do not use the charging phone
Prof. Dr. Osman Çerezci stated that as Üsküdar University, they go to schools to inform about the electromagnetic radiation effect of mobile phones, their use and how they should be used in daily life and said, "Using the phone on charge is a factor in the deterioration of the battery. It is also necessary to make sure that the chargers are original. This incompatibility is among the factors that weaken the battery."
