The deplorable situation of substance-addicted young people in many cities, especially Istanbul, has brought a new substance addiction to the agenda.
'Flakka', which is cheaper than Bonzai and turns people into zombies when used, is a chemical stimulant containing 'alpha-PDP'. This substance, which looks like bath salts, draws attention among the most powerful synthetic drugs.
Üsküdar University Faculty Member, NPISTANBUL Hospital Psychiatry Specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gül Eryılmaz said that "Flakka", a new substance used by "zombie" looking people who have emerged in recent days, is a chemical stimulant containing 'alpha-PDP'.
New generation deadly substance: FlakkaNEW GENERATION DEADLY SUBSTANCE: FLAKKA
Stating that the age of drug use is gradually decreasing, as well as the emergence of new drugs has become just as dangerous, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gül Eryılmaz said that the use of the drug called 'Flakka', which is cheaper than Bonzai and turns the person into a zombie when used, has recently been seen in our country.
CHEAPER AND MORE EFFECTIVE THAN BONZAI
Stating that Flakka is a chemical stimulant containing 'alpha-PDP', although it is referred to as "zombie-making substance" among users, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gül Eryılmaz said the following:
"Flakka is considered one of the most powerful synthetic drugs. It is structurally similar to bath salt. There are many methods of use. Addiction to this substance is increasing in the world because it is cheap, easy to obtain and fast-acting. The fact that addiction is reported in approximately 50% of those who use Flakka has become increasingly important due to its high addiction potential and the fact that addiction is generally seen in young adults.
It is not surprising that this substance is referred to as a zombie-making substance because of the possibility of behaviors such as harming others after taking this substance. It is recommended that families and young people be careful about the addiction of these new substances, especially because it is cheaper than Bonzai. Hallucinations, increased physical strength, strange movements, aggression, suspiciousness, heart and respiratory problems, suicide and death have been reported after taking this substance."
DISCIPLINE IS ESSENTIAL IN ADDICTION TREATMENT
Noting that addiction treatment is a treatment that should be carried out in a certain discipline, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gül Eryılmaz said, "Treatment has three pillars: the person himself, the family and the treatment team. Since the lack of one of these pillars will cancel the whole treatment, it will help both themselves and their relatives to get support from the treatment team in cases where families have difficulty in coping."
