Partial knee replacement is an orthopedic surgical procedure that replaces only one part of a damaged or worn knee. It can be performed by replacing the inner or outer part of the knee or only the kneecap.

In this procedure, only the damaged part of the knee is replaced.The aim ofpartialknee replacement surgery is to reduce trauma to healthy tissues and bones or to relieve arthritis in two or three parts of the knee. Partial knee replacement, like total knee replacement, is performed on middle-aged and older patients. In order for this procedure to be performed, the anterior - posterior cruciate ligaments, internal - external lateral ligaments as well as the meniscus must be intact.
