Prof. Dr. Korkut Ulucan from Üsküdar University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, made evaluations on the "genetic test" recently conducted by Galatasaray player Taylan Antalyalı and the importance of genetic tests.
"Genetic tests", which came to the agenda after Galatasaray soccer player Taylan Antalyalı had them done recently, are an important guide especially in the development of young athletes. Stating that genetic tests show what type of exercise the athlete is prone to as well as information about training, sports geneticist Prof. Dr. Korkut Ulucan said, "Information about the athlete's predisposition to non-impact injuries, athletes' mental motivation and nutrition programs can be determined with such tests."
Prof. Dr. Korkut Ulucan from Üsküdar University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, made evaluations on the "genetic test" recently conducted by Galatasaray player Taylan Antalyalı and the importance of genetic tests.
The important thing is to proceed according to the test results
Sports genetics expert Prof. Dr. Korkut Ulucan, who also led the "genetic testing" process of young footballer Taylan Antalyalı, pointed out the importance of drawing a path according to the data that emerged as a result of these tests. Prof. Dr. Korkut Ulucan said, "We have been applying these types of tests to our athletes for years and we have received very positive feedback. There are also athletes who compete in individual sports branches and successfully represent our country and win gold medals. The important thing is that these tests can be applied to athletes by expert coaches after they are done, so the test alone is not enough."
Athlete's predispositions are determined
Noting that these test outputs are very important in determining the characteristics that the athlete is predisposed to, Prof. Dr. Korkut Ulucan said, "This issue can really be taken to very different places. With such tests, we can only recommend information about training to athletes. Information on what type of exercise they are prone to, their susceptibility to non-impact related injuries, the mental motivation of athletes and their nutrition programs can be determined with such tests."
If he acts in accordance with his genetic structure, he will be successful for many years
Prof. Dr. Korkut Ulucan also gave information about the tests conducted with successful athlete Taylan Antalyalı, who has been on the agenda in recent days, and said: "He is a very smart, hardworking and well-mannered young athlete, he has years ahead of him. Making such an investment in himself shows the importance he attaches to this business. I hope that if he organizes his life in accordance with his genetic structure, if he pays attention to his nutrition program, sleep and what he needs to do, he will make us proud for many years." He underlined that the expected results can only be achieved by applying the results of the tests.
