TheCOGBAT (Cognitive Basic Assessment) is a part of the Vienna Test System used to measure the cognitive and behavioral functioning of individuals. The test assesses various cognitive domains such as attention and concentration, memory, executive functions, reaction speed and processing speed. The COGBAT plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of neuropsychological assessments, learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neuropsychiatric conditions. The test helps to develop appropriate treatment and intervention strategies by comprehensively analyzing the cognitive performance of individuals. In this way, it becomes possible to plan individuals' education and therapy processes more effectively.

COGBAT and COGNIPLUS Rehabilitation System

COGNIPLUS Rehabilitation System provides cognitive rehabilitation based on COGBAT test results. Computerized training modules include attention, executive functions, memory, spatial processing and visual motor skills. The following cognitive areas are assessed:

  • Attention
  • Memory
  • Executive Functions

TheCOGBAT (Cognitive Basic Assessment) cognitive test battery includes the following subtests:

  • TMT - L BTA: Information processing speed
  • WAF intrinsic Alertness
  • WAF cross-modal Divided attention
  • FGT RLVA: Figural long-term memory
  • FGT RKVA: Figural short-term memory
  • FGT LS: Total learning, formal (Learning total)
  • FGT RW Recognition, formal (Correct recognition)
  • TMT-L BTB Cognitive flexibility
  • NBV: Verbal working memory
  • TOL-F Planning ability
  • INHIB Response inhibition

COGNIPLUS Rehabilitation System is a computerized training battery for the training of cognitive functions. It includes training modules for attention functions, executive functions, memory, spatial processing and visual motor functions.

Before starting the training, a careful assessment allows us to identify strengths and areas in need of improvement. Correctly identifying areas in need of training makes training effective and efficient. The progress made in the training is evaluated by using the parallel forms of the tests administered at the beginning in COGBAT.

COGNIPLUS Training Modules

  • ALERT: Attention/Awareness
  • CODING Working Memory-Spatial coding
  • DATEUP: Working Memory-Update process
  • DIVID: Attention/Divided attention
  • FOCUS: Attention/Focus
  • HIBIT-R Executive Functions/Response inhibition
  • NAMES Long Term Memory
  • NBACK Working Memory-Tracking skill
  • PLAND Executive Functions/Planning and Action Skills
  • ROTATE Spatial Processing
  • SELECT: Attention/Selective Attention
  • SPACE Attention/Visual-Spatial attentiveness
  • SPEED Information Processing Speed
  • VIG Attention/Awareness Sustained Attention
  • VISMO: Visual Motor Coordination
  • VISP: Working Memory-Recall

In Which Centers Can This Test Be Administered?

Although there are other institutions in our country that use the Vienna Test System mostly for psychotechnical evaluations or clinical purposes, the COGBAT test set is the most up-to-date version of this system and I can say that we are the first institution to use it. What is important is not the scores obtained by measuring any test, but the clinical evaluation of the needs of the person by a team of experts from neurology, psychiatry and psychology disciplines within a multidisciplinary approach. This approach is applied in our hospital and outpatient clinics.

Other Tests Used

  • SPM Raven's Standard Progressive Matrices (Logical Reasoning Test)
  • CPM Raven's Colored Progressive Matrices (Logical Reasoning Test)
  • COG Cognitrone (Attention & Concentration Test)
  • DAUF Sustained Attention Test
  • NVLT: Non-Verbal Learning Test

T.O.V.A. (Test Of Variables Of Attention Continuous Performance Test)

It is a computerized continuous performance test that measures attention and impulsivity. It is not affected by language. It has two 10.3-minute sections, totaling 21.6 minutes. It has a normative database for ages 4-80.

Areas of Use

  • Assessment of attention,
  • Measurement of post-medication response,
  • Measuring the response to different doses of drugs and finding the optimum dose,
  • Measuring response to treatment in the long term,
  • As part of a cognitive check-up,

It includes a comprehensive overview of the COGBAT test set and the COGNIPLUS Rehabilitation System and its application areas.
