The test is used as a developmental test to visualize visual motor function in children, helping to detect and treat retardation, regression, loss of function and organic brain damage in both adults and children. It also sheds light on the detection of personality deviations, especially in regression cases (mental retardation, aphasia, various organic brain injuries, psychoses, unreal illnesses, etc.).

The Bender Gestalt Test is administered to children between the ages of 5 years 6 months and 10 months 11 months to assess their visual motor skills. It is also used as a developmental test and can sometimes be used to detect mental retardation, various brain injuries and physiological problems.

The test, which consists of 9 shapes, each on a separate card, was developed by L.A.Bender in 1938. The test provides information on motor perception and assesses perceptual maturity, possible neurological impairment and emotional adjustment. It was adapted into Turkish by Ayşe Yalın and Oya Somer. This test is also used as an individual intelligence test administered to individuals between the ages of 5 and 11.

It is used to detect retardation, regression, loss of function and organic brain damage in visual kinesthetic motor perception of intelligence. It consists of 9 shapes and the person is asked to draw these shapes. The visual motor perception score of the person is calculated by scoring each difference of the shapes seen and drawn differently. There is no limited time application.

The Bender Gestalt Test gives very effective and accurate results, especially when used with a complementary test such as the Koppitz Human Drawing Test.

Scale Type: It is a performance test, suitable for group application.

Applicable to: Children between the ages of 5 years 6 months and 10 years 11 months.

Implementation: A is used as the input pattern. Then patterns 1-8 are given one after the other. The paper on which the test taker can draw the patterns should be plain, white and unlined. One sheet of paper is sufficient. However, for people with lower levels of intelligence or sensory disturbance, more than one may be necessary.

Material: 9 cards, 1 or 2 blank sheets of paper, pencil and eraser.

The test was adapted into Turkish, and validity and reliability studies were conducted by working on Turkish norms. In line with these studies, we can say that the test data are reliable.
