What is Spider Fear (Arachnophobia) and How to Cure It?

Arachnophobia, or fear of spiders, is expressed as an intense feeling of fear of spiders or arthropods. Individuals who come face-to-face with spiders or other such animals experience a sense of intense fear and panic. Physical symptoms such as difficulty breathing, rapid heartbeat, nausea, sweating, and trembling may be observed. When spiders are thought to be present or when spiders are visualized in their minds, these individuals may want to leave the place they are in. This condition generally creates negative conditions in the individual's life, and at a point where no solution is found, it may be necessary to seek psychological help. Arachnophobia can be overcome by applying various types of treatment methods. As seen in other phobias, arachnophobia can also be completely resolved by seeking psychological help.

Fear of spiders, is one of the most common types of phobias. In particular, some studies claim that existing phobias develop as a result of evolutionary selection. Depending on this perspective, since some spiders are venomous, individuals may have a tendency to fear all spiders.
One of the important points regarding this fear is that the prevalence of the condition, known as arachnophobia in different cultures, varies. For example, an intense fear of spiders is observed in Western societies, whereas in the African region, the spider is considered a wise animal.
