This scale is a self-assessment tool developed by Cole et al. (1988) in Canada to understand the emotional climate between a person important to the patient and the patient and to rate some characteristics of the relationship. It is administered to patients and items are marked in a true-false format, taking into account the relationship with the key relative over the past three months.
Scoring: It consists of 60 items answered True-False. Correct questions are scored as 1 and incorrect questions are scored as 0. In 30 questions, 1 point is given for the "correct" answer and 1 point is given for the "incorrect" answer in 30 questions. The total score of the scale varies between 0-60 and the score of each subscale varies between 0-15.
For the evaluation, the total scores of the subscales and the overall total score of the scale are mostly used. In this case, the higher the scores, the higher the level of DD.
The scale has four subscales, each with 15 items:
intrusiveness
emotional response
attitude toward illness
tolerance/expectation
