Gout is a sudden and severe joint disease caused by the accumulation of uric acid in the body, leading to pain and swelling in the joints.

What is Gout?

Gout is a very severe rheumatic disease. Gout is also known as drop disease. It is formerly known as rich disease. Excessive consumption of meat can cause gout because it contains a lot of protein. Gout is more common in men. The main cause of gout is the excess of uric acid in the blood. When there are problems in the excretion of uric acid from the body, uric acid accumulates in the body and gout occurs. Or, as a result of some abnormalities, uric acid is produced in excess and gout is seen in the same way. When uric acid, which is filtered through the kidneys and excreted in the urine, cannot be excreted, uric acid in the blood settles between tissues and joints and accumulates there, causing inflammation in the joints after a while. This inflammation causes pain and swelling. Gout can also cause restrictions in daily life.

  • Excessive consumption of glucose-fructose-containing foods
  • Very unhealthy and unbalanced eating habits
  • Excessive consumption of milk and dairy products
  • Excessive consumption of seafood
  • Kidney diseases

Gout Disease Treatment

It is very important to diagnose gout before treating it. Because it would not be correct to consider gout as a whole disease. Gout should be diagnosed according to its stages and a treatment plan should be prepared. The amount of uric acid in the blood tests that help to diagnose gout is high. And with the amount of uric acid, the diagnosis of gout is decided as a result of observing the swelling in the foot. The treatment of gout is by drying the inflammation with the medications given and gradually reducing the swelling. In addition, gout is treated by supporting the drug treatment with diet and drinking plenty of water.
