Narcissism is a personality disorder that occurs when some individuals in society constantly see themselves as superior to other people with elevated self-esteem. They see themselves as superior to other people. However, not all people with these characteristics may have a personality disorder. The majority of individuals with narcissistic personality disorder live their lives with elevated self-confidence and distorted admiration for themselves. These people expect their environment to replicate these feelings. They are often characterized by egocentric personality traits, lack of empathy, overestimation (exaggeration) of personality, success and power-dependent behaviors.
