Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeşim Özdemir graduated from Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine in 1999. She completed her specialty training in Medical Genetics at Erciyes University, Department of Medical Genetics and examined PIWIL-1, PIWIL-2, DICER-1 and DDX-4 gene expression levels in breast cancer. After his specialization, he worked in the field of clinical genetics in University Hospitals, Training and Research Hospitals and private health institutions.

Between 2015 and 2025, she worked as the Responsible Physician of Memorial Şişli Hospital Genetic Diagnosis Center and Head of the Genetics Department; she served in the fields of prenatal diagnosis, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, hereditary disease screening and hereditary cancers, smart drug choices, clinical application of individual genetic tests.

He continued his academic career at Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine and received the title of Associate Professor in Medical Genetics in 2023. He is currently the Head of the Department of Medical Genetics at Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine and Medical Geneticist at NPISTANBUL Brain Hospital.

His research interests include rare diseases, neurogenetics, hereditary cancer predispositions, prenatal genetic diagnosis, pharmacogenetics, genomic medicine, cellular and gene therapies, and the search for new diagnostic biomarkers in complex diseases, individualized therapies and genetic testing in longevity.

He has published numerous original research articles, case reports and reviews in national and international journals and 100+ congress papers. Also

  • "Genetic Diagnostic Methods, Rare Diseases, Approach to Dysmorphic Children, Pediatric Genetic Diseases and Next Generation Sequencing Applications"
  • He is the author of 8 books/book chapters on current developments in schizophrenia and new perspectives.

He has participated as an invited speaker in national and international congresses; He has made presentations especially in the fields of prenatal diagnosis, childhood genetic diseases, epigenetics, metabolism-genetic interaction and cellular / gene therapy approaches, the importance of genetic tests in cancer, gene therapies and current developments, Cellular therapies.

In his clinical approach, he adopts a perspective that does not reduce the genetic diagnosis to laboratory results only, but evaluates the individual's family, biological history and life dynamics as a whole.
