He was born on November 6, 1967, in Ankara. He graduated from Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School and the Faculty of Medicine at Ankara University. He completed his residency in psychiatry at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital.

Following his residency, he worked at the Bakırköy Prof. Dr. Mazhar Osman Mental and Nervous Diseases Training and Research Hospital from 1997 to 2013.After becoming an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in 2012, he was appointed as an Education Officer at Erenköy Hospital for Mental and Nervous Disorders in 2013 and served as head of the Women’s Ward from 2013 to 2026.In 2021, he was appointed to the professorship position in the Department of Psychiatry at SBÜ.

Prof. Dr. Engin Emrem Beştepe served as a Family Therapy Fellow at the University of Chicago’s Center for Family Health in 1999.
