Alzheimer's disease (Alzheimer's) is a disease in which nerve cells in the brain die in old age, making it difficult for the brain to transmit signals properly. In most people, Alzheimer's symptoms progress slowly. Symptoms may not be noticeable at first. Sometimes it is only when family members look back that they realize when the symptoms started.
